Trying out everyone's favorites

katikatI thought that it was time to take a look at Firefly. A very bad decision with the fall season knocking at the door *head/desk* The show is really good. And I mean, really really good. I'm not one of those people who immediately find anything that Joss Whedon does Nobel Prize worthy, but this one is really good.
So far, I love Simon, Wash but especially Kaylee best. Jewel Staite is really awesome in this one. I have nothing against her playing Dr. Jennifer Keller on SGA but there, she's just a blond love interest, not a real addition, an enrichment to the show. On Firefly, she plays a character with a very distinct personality and that's kind of fascinating!
Yeah, like I really needed another addiction. Shucks!
Another one of people's favorites is Harry Potter. Yes, I decided to read it. Not that I'm all that gung-ho about the book or the characters but it's a part of our pop-culture and it's good to at least know what people are talking about - I read Gaiman's "American Gods" for the very same reason. I decided to try at least the first book of HP. So far, it's not bad - if you suspend your disbelief. No, not in the "look, magic does exist way" but in the "look, Harry Potter is the modern Cinderella" way. But then, it's a book for kids after all...
And the promo for the new ep of Atlantis!
