Irresistible
Jun. 17th, 2008 11:35 pmSo, SGA's Irresistible... I think that it's one of those love or hate episodes (similar to SPN's Ghostfacers). This ep should have been funny - and it was in places, especially the banter between McKay and Sheppard and all the people in Atlantis grinning like loons all the time - but it actually creeped me out awfully. I don't think that there was ever an episode in this series that creeped me out that much. I mean, Sheppard being the only "normal" guy and Lucius knowing that John is the only thing standing between him and Atlantis... *shudders*
For me, this episode was made by the brig scene between Sheppard and Lucius. The setting was beautifully done, especially the colors - see my icon - all emerald and dark. And then Lucius comes in and says this to John:
Lucius (standing up): You know, when you get over this cold, you and I are gonna have a long chat, face to face, and I've got a feeling we're gonna become the best of friends, and you're gonna want to help me, too, all the time ... (he grins at John) ... and you'll love it.
That creeped the heck out of me! I mean, I don't think that the writers realized just how non-con-ish it sounds and the atmosphere and chemistry don't help. Basically, Lucius just has to wait until Sheppard succumbs to the drug and then he can do with John whatever he wants to and Sheppard won't be able to say no. With the others, you never really realize it because there isn't this transition but here, oh my... *shudders*
But there were some funny McShep quotes there too, like for example:
Sheppard: This is creeping me out.
McKay: Yeah, reminds me of an old Batman episode, actually. Catwoman used a drug to put a spell on Batman, making him fall in love with her. Ending up doing all sorts of evil things for her. Kind of a turn-on actually. It's Julie Newmar in a cat outfit...
Sheppard: Eartha Kitt was Catwoman.
McKay: Not till season three.
Sheppard: Really?
McKay: Yeah, you didn't know that?
But otherwise... *still creeped out*
