I finally caught up on this series. It's way better than Lost but it'll never replace Supernatural in my heart.

In this show, there were some characters that I adored, some that left me cold and some that I openly disliked.

The ones that I really disliked were the cop Matt Parkman and the painter Isaac Mendez. They just didn't click right from the beginning. Especially Matt. All he did was one big mess and that was it.

The characters I really adored were Mohinder Suresh, the Petrelli brothers (of course :P) and Claire. But my top charas were of course Nathan and Peter, their bond that survived anything, even Nathan's selfishness at the beginning of the series. What rather confuses me though is that nobody thinks them being too emotional whereas the Winchester brothers in SPN are - according to some people - way too emo... At least Sam and Dean don't declare their love in front of everyone and their sister.

All the other characters were... meh! I didn't care if they lived or died, so meh :P

Now to the very last ep. I don't know, I expected something more... spectacular, you know, a great battle between Peter and Sylar. The whole thing felt way too... anti-climatic. And why couldn't Peter actually fly away himself since he absorbed his brothers powers? Why could only Claire kill Peter when nobody was afraid at all of Peter being radioactive? Why could Sylar stop bullets and not Hiro and his katana? And the last scene with Hiro being "in a pinch" as they called it - maybe it should have felt like a cliffhanger but it... kinda... didn't. At least not to me.

I'm still curious if any gay characters will pop up or not though. The producer promised us gays, surprising characters turning gay but... nothing. Did he chicken out? Probably. The closest to gay we got was Sylar and Mohinder (because dude, at least from my POV, Sylar was like so into Mohinder), and Hiro and Ando. Fan service? Possibly, but who knows.

I think that my problem with the finale was, that it was overshadowed by the Supernatural finale. Because, dude, Kripke pulled a great one there. So, the Heroes finale felt... lame compared to that. I expected something really cataclysmal, ground-breaking... something, that would change the dynamics of the series, open new ways for the show to follow. But...

Oh, don't get me wrong, the finale was good, it just didn't make my heart beat faster. It was similar to the whole series. Very good, even DVD-worth but... I think it's because I have troubles with shows with too many characters that you can't really get to know before someone offs them. So, yeah.

And the next season? I will be definitely watching. But if the show was canceled, I wouldn't have shed a tear for it.

I can answer at least a couple of the questions you have.

And why couldn't Peter actually fly away himself since he absorbed his brothers powers?

This one has been discussed in comms a lot. The general consensus is that Peter's abilities weren't fully under his control.

Why could Sylar stop bullets and not Hiro and his katana?

Personally, I think Sylar didn't take Hiro seriously. He never thought Hiro had the guts to do it, so he didn't try to stop him.

I think what made the last scene with Hiro so much fun is that he's seeing a legendary Japanese hero, and he looks suspiciously like his own father. I'm totally in love with Hiro (and even more so with Ando), so I'm really looking forward to it.

I like Matt Parkman. I think he's the guy I'd probably be like if I had powers. I'd make a total mess of it, too. ^_^

I think they've opened up an interesting way to go next season. Thanks to Molly, we know there's something out there that's even worse than Sylar. And we don't know where Sylar's body is, or if he's even dead. We don't even know for sure that Nathan and Peter are dead.

Peter was not in control of his powers when he started getting hot, he even said so. Nathan's change of heart was not surprising either. There is a deep seated conscience inside him and he started listening to it instead of to his mother.
I am hoping that Nathan is still alive, after all, once he flew Peter up in the air, he could have flown off before Peter blew up. It's also possible that Peter gained control of his flying powers since he had physical contact with Nathan while on the way up and finished flying up to a safe altitude and Nathan was able to fly away long before Peter got too hot and burned him.

Claire knows where Peter's "achilles' heel" is - remember the piece of glass she pulled from his head? That's why Peter asked her to kill him, and because she could survive the blast if he did blow up.

I think Hiro caught Sylar by surprise since Hiro had had a chance to kill Sylar once before but couldn't. Which was why Hiro was able to skewer Sylar, Sylar didn't think Hiro had the guts to.

As for any gay characters, in the beginning, Claire's friend who was taping her stunts and her healing from her injuries had stated he was gay, but then he was no longer a factor in the series once the Haitian took his memories of him and Claire being good friends from him. Supposedly his agent pulled him from the series because he was up for a big part in a movie and didn't want the gay tag hung on him.

Thank you! :) I've friended lotsa SPN comms but none in the Heroes fandom.

I like Hiro and Ando, they are so cute together. And the best of friends. That's what I adore.

Hehe, it surprises me that you watch a TV series. I thought you were an anime!girl only XP

Hm, I thought that Peter told Claire because she would be the only one to get close to him without dying of radiation poisoning. That's why it surprised me so that Nathan simply snatched him away :D

I like Hiro, I really do. But I think that the whole "training" with his Dad was a bit rushed. In a matter of hours he became a sword-master? That was kind of weird. But otherwise, Hiro rocks :D

I heard that Claire's friend should've been gay. Then they wanted to turn him into a possible love interest for Claire, then they cut him out completely... Yeah, that's what he gets for being too picky. I mean, playing gay doesn't mean you are gay *rolls eyes*

When fans addressed this, the producer promised then other gay characters. I know that I read the article... somewhere XP It just feels like he chickened out, you know? Like TPTB put him under pressure to not introduce gays in such a popular TV show. Too bad :(

What really fascinated me though, was the relationship between Sylar and Mohinder. Sylar could have killed Mohinder so many times and still get his hands on the list of people with abilities but he didn't do it XD
