Yesterday, I made a bad mistake. While searching for some informations about Peacemaker Kurogane and Prince of Tennis I wandered into the muddy waters of fan sites. Baaaaaaaaad mistake, a very bad one. Never in my life did I come across of so much character bashing. The fandom of PoT is really horrible in that way. Fans complained about the lameness of the anime and praised the quality of the manga. The manga is obviously much more cruel and the characters much meaner than in the anime. If they measure the quality of an anime by the meanness of its characters, I will happily keep watching the "lame" ones.

And thus, I made a decision - never again will I take a part in any discussions in MLs, LJ comms or forums. I unsubscribed from all my GW and other mailing lists and kept only the fanfic-searching ones.

To avoid the bad aftertaste in your mouth, it's better to stay away from any and all fandoms :(

I guess I'm kind of immune to bashing in PoT, mostly because I got so much of it in GW as a 1x2 fan. Heck, even within the circle of 1x2 fans I've seen so much in-fighting. I think almost any fandom I've been involved with since is nicer than GW.

Manga snobbery is pretty rampant everywhere. I always get amused at the Bleach fans who say the manga is SO much better than the anime. I follow both. Up until the new filler arc, they've been exactly the SAME. *snickers*

Awww. I will miss you! But yeah, the fandom, generally is not a good place for fans. *shakes head*

*hugs you* I'm sorry that you have had such a bad experience, hun, but I don't believe all fandoms are that bad... but maybe I'm being naive!

It's the same with the Saiyuki manga. That's why I didn't buy it. When the manga and the anime are so similar that they look almost the same, then I think it's a waste of money to buy both :(

It was different with Yami no Matsuei since there are a lot of short stories that the anime doesn't cover but mostly, I'm not interested in reading the manga when I already saw the anime :(

I haven't been active in the GW fandom for some time and had the mls set to no-mail anyway. So this won't be any loss :)

*huggles back* When you start going through the fandoms, you find out that they are all the same. They mostly consist of kids who can't respect the fact that not everybody likes the same thing and so they bash :( Too bad. I will keep safe in my own LJ :)

Good thing I haven't read the manga. ^____^ I like the anime just fine.

*hugs* I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Fandom can be a cruel place and it is very unfortunate because it should be fun. I think most people forget that admist all their bashing. Having been in the 1x2x1 fandom for over 5 years, I guess I've just developed a very tough shell.

I have only seen a few chapters and they had... more violent'y differences than the anime. Guess there are those who are incredibly passionate about the manga over the anime. As for me, I like to stay in the small realm of things and rather not deal with such things. *snuggles you muchly*

We're not all that bad! ^^;;

As I said to Sharon, I don't buy manga to anime. For me it's enough to watch the anime (I like moving pictures better anyway :D), the only exception to this rule is the Yami no Matsuei manga because there are a lot of short stories that didn't make it into the anime :(

Even when I was really into 1x2, I tended to stay away from fandom discussions. They usually turn everything - even your favorite pairing - into something disgusting. And since I'm easily hurt, this feeling always stays with me :(

I like the anime better. I haven't read the manga at all, but I've seen the pictures. And to be honest, the anime is much more nicely drawn. Especially Tezuka *swoons*

Can I ask what differences did you see between the anime and the manga?

I can relate to what you are saying. I'm also very sensitive and hurt easily, especially where Heero and Duo are concerned so I've always stayed away from fandom discussions. It is much safer that way.

I love the animation as well over the manga. X3

The manga isn't that much different until the matches against Jyousei Shounan.

[SPOILERS WHEE!]

Off the top of my head, Jyousei lost in the tournament before they faced Seigaku so they didn't appear at all in the manga. Another team from Midoriyama school had matches with Seigaku. Then in the Rokkaku matches, Aoi never faced Echizen; instead it was Kaidoh who had a match with him. Kaidoh got hurt... don't remember why at the moment but he was bleeding a lot from his head and used his bandana to try and stop it (of course he wouldn't forfeit from the match). And er, Sanada (who you will see in a bit) is actually more violent because he believes in punishing people who lost (kinda like Regulars getting dropped in Hyotei). He's like really traditional or something, but the form of punishment he uses is backhanding people across the face. >.o And oh, Tezuka went to Kyushuu (I think?) instead of Germany. Well he stayed in Japan, that's for sure. XD;;

Yes I ramble. *dies*

I admit that I fell in love with the Inui/Kaidoh pairing. And that because of the finals ep where Inui played against his former doubles partner. When Kaidoh shouted at Inui to win. And then the last scene where the rest of the guys went away, leaving Kaidoh and Inui alone... and Kaidoh lowered his eyes, almost blushing then handed Inui his towel and Inui gripped not just the towel but Kaidoh's hand too and in that moment the screen went white... It was like the whole happily ever after and into the sunset things :D

That was the scene that got me so into the pairing. ^_^ *dies of the cute* Notice how quickly the screen went white and yet every fangirl has probably caught that. XD

It drives me crazy though that I have no idea how to write these two :( For me it's obvious, that Kaidoh is the uke, but I have no idea what the dynamics of this ship should be. Hm, Kaidoh would be a feisty bottom I think and Inui... he would be the Uber!Seme. No gentle loving, but hot sex. No comforting but discipline. I think they would be more chain and whips and sexual experiments - Inui likes to experiment, doesn't he? ;) - then cuteness and cuddling. But I just don't know... Hm...

There are certainly many different aspects to their relationship. And most of them works. X333 It'll be fine.
