21 Questions about Xmas

1. Do you have a real or fake Christmas tree?
Fake. A real tree means way too much work. I mean - needles in the carpet? -_-;;

2. Do you put up Christmas lights on the exterior of your home?
Nope. Too much work, too much electricity. And especially - too expensive!

3. What's your favorite Christmas song/carol?
Hm, not sure. But probably "Tichá noc" (Silent Night).

4. What do you like better - turkey or ham?
We eat neither on Xmas Eve here. The Czech eat carp and potato salad. But I don't eat fish. One word: bones!!!

5. Do you open up any Christmas presents on Christmas Eve?
Of course, that's the tradition here. We open all our presents on Xmas Eve. I never understood why someone would open them on the next day *scratches her head*

6. Have you ever been Christmas caroling?
Never, we don't have this tradition here.

7. What was your most memorable Christmas gift(s) that you received?
Socks last year :/

8. What's your favorite Christmas movie?
The Czech fairy tale Cinderella. That's one of the funniest fairy tales I've ever seen.

9. Have you ever built a real snowman?
Of course. We usually have a LOT of snow in winter. But it's been many many years since I built one.

10. Have you ever peeked into a present and found out what it was before Christmas?
Once and that was by mistake. My mum left it lying on the table and I didn't know what it was. The funny thing? She forgot to put it under the Xmas tree then :D So, I received it in January :D

11. What is on the top of your Christmas tree?
A small bird made of glass and painted with vibrant colors.

12. Do you own a Santa hat?
No, and I never will. Santa Claus is not a Czech tradition and I hate it when people suddenly try to go all "westwards" and forget who they actually are. It's the same with Halloween. I would never celebrate Halloween doing crazy things and dressing up like an idiot. Here, it's a holiday of retrospection, of visiting cemeteries and remembering the death ones. Not a cheap show the television tries to force upon us :(

13. When was the last time you had your picture taken with Santa Claus?
Never.

14. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?
Of course! I buy presents for my mum only so I spent like a LOT on her presents.

15. Do you put candy canes on your Christmas tree?
Nope. But we used to put wrapped pieces of chocolate on our tree. Yummy.

16. Who is hardest person to buy for?
No one. I love to buy presents and have no problems with figuring out who wants what :)

17. Who is the easiest person to buy for?
My mum. She likes everything! But I stil buy just the best for her. She deserves it :)

18. How old were you when you realized Santa was imaginary?
Here it's not Santa but Father Christmas... but I'm not sure why it's translated as "Father" when it's the little Jesus, the newborn baby who brings the presents here... Weird.

19. What does your morning of Christmas routine consist of?
Sleeping in like reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally long. :)

20. Egg nog?
Yummy!

21. What do you want for Christmas this year?
I don't care. I just hope it won't be socks lime last year :((

On a different note - I started watching House. Is it just me or does it really look like House and Wilson are a couple? Wilson seems to be the only one who has no problem at all handling House. I like this series. House is so funny and sarcastic but he really cares :)
