NCIS: LA 107-111
Oct. 3rd, 2013 11:32 pmYou know, I think NCIS:LA might be the best show on TV right now as far as female characters go. Every one of them has her quirks and whims, yet every one of them is so bad-ass you just want to pump your fist in the air and yell "YES!" Every one of them, Hetty, Kensi, Nell... even the pathologist smitten with Nate. They rock so hard. But my favorite will always be Hetty...
See? Isn't Hetty awesome? I know that she's basically this show's Ducky but I actually like her much more than Ducky. There's just something about Linda Hunt and her delivery. And to see such a tiny spitfire run this crew... It's hilarious and so cool at the same time! I really want to be a Hetty when I grow up!
But back to the show. I now remember the one plotline that I hated during S1 - Mo and the Lost Boys of Sudan. Uh. Why are all Sam centric arcs so darn lame? I admit I skipped all the scenes with Sam and Mo. I just can't take that storyline again. No way, no how.
But other than that, S1 was so good when it came to Sam and Callen's friendship. Their banter, their closeness, the way they took care of each other... These days it seems like Callen's issues simply annoy Sam - like it's Callen's fault, really! - but back then, during S1, they were really there for each other.
I miss this. THIS. Just them being friends without the whole crappy stuff about Sam's family :(
Hetty: If men wanted the truth all the time, I wouldn't have a French Maid's outfit in my boudoir, would I?
Hetty: The last person to have a good time in Washington was General Jubal early in 1864. He was attacking it at the time!
Hetty: Why don't they just throw me in a well and see if I float?
Vance: This isn't a witch hunt, Hetty.
Hetty: I recall the same thing being said to my predecessor before she disappeared. Last I heard of Macy, she was working out of a Quonset hut in Djibouti.
Hetty: That's what Oliver Reed thought when he tried to make me his special musketeer one night. But he kept his sword in his scabbard and I kept the scotch.
Nate: Should I get it dry cleaned?
Hetty. Well, that's an option.
Nate: Soda water?
Hetty: Well, I'd recommend donation or incineration, not in that order.
Nate: You don't like this tie, it was a gift.
Hetty: Obviously not from a loved one.
Hetty: Oh, bugger!

Callen: You want explain yourself?
Sam: Explain myself? I saved your skinny ass.
Callen: Let's see, I had a gun and a hostage before you got here. Now, I'm chained up to a stove with a concussion. That's a nice save.
Sam: Ten more seconds, you'd have had a dozen new bullet holes in you.
Callen: Now what?
Sam: I was hoping you had some ideas.
Callen: I'm thinking I want my gun and my hostage back.
