Flashback eps & SPN

I didn't really like any of the flashback episodes that SPN has had so far. Why? Because I felt they didn't really convey the depth of love between the brothers. I haven't seen the groundwork laid, the roots of the inexplicable co-dependency that's so profound between the adult Winchesters, so deep that it's become almost all consuming for them.
You see, when Jared and Jensen are on-screen together, whether they bicker or do emotional and/or angsty stuff, the brotherly love they portray is almost a physical thing between them, like a third person always hovering in the background. Whatever they do, it's always there. And it must be them, the actors, because when Jared played Robo!Sam, it was NOT there. But the kids...
Whether you take the shtriga ep, or the Xmas ep, or - God forbid! - that bully ep, not once was I convinced that those two were THE Sam and Dean who would later on do unspeakable, literally earth-shattering things for each other. I think it was a combination of bad writing and lacking chemistry, especially in that ep with Brock Kelly, sorry to say.
In the heaven ep, we saw that Dean's loveliest memories were of Sam, of the two of them doing stuff together as kids. But I haven't seen that shown in any of the flashback eps...
And why am I even talking about it? Erm, must be the heat... *shuffles off*
