Watching Lord of the Rings

First of all, allow me a little fangirl moment here: KARL URBAN! KARL URBAN! KARL URBAN! *runs around in circles* Ehm... Yes. I completely forgot that he played Éomer! When I saw him, I remembered the audio commentary on the latest Star Trek movie where J.J. Abrams said that they remembered Karl Urban playing a hunk in LotR and now he was the funniest doctor from Georgia, LOL!
IIRC, the battle of Helm's Deep is the longest climax sequence ever filmed, right? And, boy, was it awesome or what? I loved it when Legolas teased Gimli with how many orcs he had killed already. Or when Aragorn had to toss Gimli over to the bridge and Gimli asked him not to tell anything about it to the elf. LOL!
The most touching scene for me was Haldir's death. The way it was filmed, I literally had tears in my eyes. And then when they decided to ride out of the keep and meet the enemy head on, even though they knew it would be the last thing they ever did. I admire such courage.
My favorite scene? When Gandalf arrived together with Éomer and his army, when they rode down the hill to meet the enemy, the two armies clashing together. Wow, that was powerful.
I really, really love the way Orlando Bloom plays Legolas, the way he moves and fights, the way he doesn't speak much but tells everything with his eyes and his expression. I loved all the scenes Legolas and Aragorn had together. There's just something about their friendship, it's not about grand gestures, yet it runs so deep...
And another thing that fascinates me is the pronunciation of the names: araGOrn, legoLAS, boroMIR, halDIR. I especially like the way Aragorn says "Legolas", it's so different from the way names are usually pronounced in American movies...
Oh, and honestly? I don't really understand why Aragorn chose Arwen - maybe because I haven't seen enough of her? - rather than Éowyn. Éowyn is so down-to-earth and kick-ass!

The whole Aragorn/Arwen thing is largely there in the manual -- LotR books come with an appendix that detail that they were more or less courting for something like sixty years (Aragorn is ninetish in TTT), whereas Éowyn was nineteen or so.
