Watched the pilot of Rizzoli and Isles. Hm, what to say about it?

The good: The case was interesting and suspenseful. Both Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and Isles (Sasha Alexander) are likable and quirky and they don't need men to hold their hands - AND they're not condescending or obnoxious about it. And it was great to see Bruce McGill again.

The not so good: This is Women's Murder Club 2.0. Harmon's Rizzoli is Boxer-two-years-later. If I didn't know that I was watching R&I, I would have thought that they resurrected WMK. It's that similar. Carbon copy similar - similar characters, similar tone, similar cases. I liked WMK and R&I might take a different direction in the future, might be somehow different, but so far... nya.

The bad: I'm sorry but - again, so far - I don't see any chemistry between Harmon and Alexander. At all. They are acting side by side, not with each other. They just don't mesh. There's something missing.

Conclusion? I'll give it another ep or two, but if it doesn't wow me with something, I think I'll pass on this show.

Anybody else watching this?

*waves* Actually, I watched it, too, since you and I are psychically linked by the TV apparently. :p I actually watched it with my mother, who'd read some of the original novels, so it was interesting to see what they changed. (For example, Rizzoli in the books is already married to the FBI agent and possibly with children.)

Harmon and Alexander don't have immediate chemistry, but I can see how the chemistry will hopefully grow as the two characters grow closer. The plot was interesting, although I was put off by the rather dark beginning scene. (That's actually what put my off with Dark Blue, where it opens with a character being tortured. Not my thing.)

It has potential, but I'm not sure either.

It does have potential but it just doesn't... sparkle like Covert Affairs of Haven do. I'll give it another ep or two but...

And yup, we have to be psychically linked *sends deep thoughts your way* ;P
