It's actually better for me. I rarely watch it the night it's on, and I have more time to download and watch it on Saturday morning.

Why do you prefer Thursday, if you don't mind me asking?

Because of its ratings. Oh Thursday, there's more competition but also more exposure. On Friday, the show will drop both in viewers and in demo - a LOT. Just look at Smalville - after it was relocated to Friday, it lost more than 1 mil. viewers and up to 0.6 demo points - from 3.5+ mil. to 2+ mil., from 1.4 demo down to 0.8 demo. People will DVR it, sure, but that doesn't mean anything for the CW.

Oh well. I suspect that S6 will be the show's last, anyway. The actors are signed for only one more season and I don't think that they would want to extend their contract anyway. At least we got S6.

They probably think Nikita needs the help from The Vampire Diaries more than SPN needs it.

That's true. I think that they're praying hard that Nikita's a hit. They Need it with a capital N. Smaville and Supernatural are the only shows they have with a faithful fan base so they need these shows to stabilize their Friday night. It's not a bad move from a business point of view, but Friday is the night to where shows go to die.

We'll see how it goes but it's for sure that SPN won't be the CW's 2nd best rated scripted show anymore. I suspect that it'll drop to a 5th or 6th place.

It's good in one way because now I won't be dragging at work because the adrenaline kept me up half the night.

The time change shows that unless the rating pick up--which they might, now that TNT is running it--season six is going to be the last. :wibble:

I'm actually kinda looking forward to this! I've been hoping for years that Supernatural could get away from Thursdays, just to see how things work out. And SPN has a very cult audience; we don't even need to maintain our current ratings to be considered a success for the CW on Fridays. The CW has - shockingly - been rather excited about how Smallville keeps winning (or placing second) for Friday night in M18-34 and M18-49, and w/ Supernatural in the picture, the CW might be able to win the night in those demos out-right. SPN doesn't even have to do much (it could afford to lose a significant part of its audience) to out-perform what the CW has Friday @ 9pm now.

And from what it looks like, the CW is trying to broaden their appeal - they said they're still focusing on W18-34, but trying to branch out and create shows that appeal to A18-34 in general. Such as Nikita, and Nomads, which might potentially come up midseason, rumor has it. So a show like SPN, which usually appeals fairly equally to W18-34 and M18-34, would be an ideal launching pad for any type of show the CW would like to add to Fridays once Smallville is gone.

That is, of course, assuming they can get Jared and Jensen to sign on for subsequent seasons.

Well, the ratings will drop for sure, but it's no wonder on Friday. But as long as it's not a real flop and as long as J2 will be willing to sign up for another season, I could see them giving it S7. I mean, SV ends next season and OTH probably too, LUX might flop too and I don't see them dropping 3-4 series at once - they would have nothing to air! But then, that's all just speculations... Who knows how SPN will do in that slot.

Yes, I think that SPN's S7 might not really depend on ratings - if it doesn't flop entirely, that is! - but on J2's willingness to sign up for more...
