Waaaaaaaaaaaah! /o\

Ben & Semir

I can't believe it! Alarm für Cobra 11's Semir Gerkhan will lose another partner next year! Tom Beck aka Ben's leaving the show in 2013! Waaaaaaaah, watch me cry like a baby. I love, love, LOVE Ben! I just hope they won't kill him off ;_; André, Tom and Chris were enough, enough with the murders! Ben's so happy go lucky, give him a happy ending writers, at least. But MAN, that's the 6th partner already. Darn it all to hell :(

*sigh* I should be used it by now, I know. The UK has Doctor Who, Germany has Alarm für Cobra 11: Die Autobahnpolizei with Semir as the Doctor and his partners as his Companions, dying or moving on, leaving him behind to carry on. But every time a partner of his leaves, my heart breaks a bit. Well, I didn't mind Frank leaving, Frank was an ass. And André... too arrogant for my liking. But Tom? ;_; Jan and then later on Chris were pretty bland, still... And now Ben! My lovely, awesome Ben. Why? WHY?! *sniff*

After reading that, I had to satisfy my Semir&Ben feels, so I ordered Alarm für Cobra 11 S22, since Amazon DE dropped the price to €9 only.

German TV!

You know, I realized I've almost completely forgotten the German language. Seriously, I had studied it for 15 years and I now have to fish for words! *cringes* I need to do something about it ASAP. So, I was thinking I should get some German TV show on DVD...

I settled on 3 options:

Alarm für Cobra 11, starting with the season where Semir gets yet another new partner - seriously, it's courting death to be his partner! - and it's Ben, who's hilarious and they have so much chemistry together. I've always loved this show but I lost my interest in it when Tom was killed ;_; Tom and Semir were perfection pure! But Ben... Ben's so awesome it almost makes up for what they did to my poor Tommy.

Der Letzte Bulle is a hilarious show about a cop who ended up in coma for 20 years. But now he's back and solving crimes - with the attitude of a 25-year-old and outdated opinions that totally clash with his partner's eco-friendly, vegetarian attitude. Henning Baum is simply awesome as Mick!

Mit Herz und Handschellen and Henning Baum once more! This is an old show for which he got the German TV award. It's about a male-female cop duo where the woman is all tomboyish and mouthy and the guy is every mother-in-law's dream come true - but! He's gay. And he's as non-cliché gay as they get - he's this Thor like blond and muscled giant who's open about and perfectly comfortable with his sexuality and in a long-term relationship. Gosh! \o/

So yeah. All these shows are rather cheap, €14.99 for a season, which is not bad. And I really need to jumpstart my German language skills! Luckily, Xmas is right behind the corner...

Bordertown! OMG!

OMG, peeps! They're finally bringing out Bordertown on DVD! You know, that 1989-1991 western TV show about a little town that straddled the US-Canadian border so that it was protected by both, a sheriff and a Canadian Mountie, who couldn't stand each other at first yet became best friends? I loved the show, LOVED IT! I even own a box set with selected episodes because nothing else was available - until now! Now all 78 30 min. long episodes will be available on DVD! And for $12.99 only! Link. Yay! I immediately pre-ordered it.

Gosh, I can't wait to watch it again. I adored the show. The banter between Jack and Clive was hilarious. And I actually got very strong threesome vibes from the show because they were both smitten with Marie who ended up choosing... Nope, that would be a spoiler :P But, gosh, I still remember the ep where the bad guys took Clive, the Mountie, hostage and shot him up pretty bad - Jack went ballistic on their asses! I'm so, so giddy right now \o/

DVDs ordered!

So, I ordered more DVDs. I didn't plan it. I wanted to wait till I got my paycheck this month but while surfing the net, I found out that How To Train Your Dragon was dangerously close to being sold out in Czech. And that would piss me off. I was unable to find movies like Speed or While You Were Sleeping in Czech and I didn't want that to happen with this film too! So, Tangled, How To Train Your Dragon and Arthur Christmas it was this time around.

DVDs bought

Yesterday, I ordered some DVDs - and it made the day even more glorious than it was, like a cherry on top! I ordered them for 97, 87 and 97Kč respectively which is cheap, cheap, CHEAP! Centurion I ordered because of Michael Fassbender and Olga Kurylenko. Blind Dating because of Chris Pine who's simply incredible in this. And Push because of Chris Evans (I didn't even know he was in this movie *embarrassed*). Can't wait to see them \o/

30 Days Relationship Challenge #30

Trinity & Neo, Matrix

These two are just... I mean... They are... \o/ Seriously, like \o/ They make me insanely happy. Their love is so deep and pure, there are no doubts between them, no jealousy. Even when Persephone made Neo kiss her, Trinity wasn't all in his face, not at all, she trusted him implicitly. And for him, there has always been just Trin. And the way they kept bringing each other back from the dead! Just through the strength of their will. And how protective they were of each other... Beautiful, truly, truly beautiful.

I wish there were more power couples like them, exceptionally kick ass and strong, yet strangely vulnerable and shy. Yes, Neo was The One but it was Trin who anchored him. Without her, he would've never saved the human race and stopped the war. They were a real team *happy sigh*

And I'm done with the meme, finally :P

I found out that I didn't own Speed on DVD! What a travesty! How is it possible? I immediately rectified that and ordered it! How can I not own it? It's an action masterpiece, one of the best action movies ever! I was so sure I had it... *grumbles*

Premium Rush on DVD!

Premium Rush will be out on DVD on Dec. 21! The Dark Knight Rises on Dec. 4! Definitely buying both, need to satisfy my JGL obsession :P

And talking about JGL, Looper has made $126 mil. worldwide so far! With a $30 mil. budget, that's all kinds of awesome! Congrats :)

DVDs bought today

Don't even ask me just how much I spent on them *cringes*

London Boulevard
Prometheus
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Snow White and the Huntsman
Starter for 10
The International
Thor
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

But before I get to them, I really need to finish Teen Wolf S2!

In the end...

... I used the Amazon gift certificate that I got from [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai - love ya, girl! - and bought...

JGL's movies: The Lookout and Uncertainty
Tom Hardy's: Rocknrolla and This Means War
James McAvoy's: State of Play

I also decided to delegate Grimm to DVD and not watch it "live". I still haven't finished S1 and S2 is well on its way and I just can't raise any interest for it in me. I like the show, I really do, it was the only new series that I picked up last season, but... I don't know. I would rather watch movies or listen to podfics.

JGL and Tom Hardy on DVDs

Now that I'm done with my "3x with JGL" thing, I'm looking for more stuff on DVD, so I need your advice, fans of JGL and Tom Hardy - or actually any actor/movie you think I might like (What I don't like? Historical stuff and movies in which "my" actor's character bites it!). What movies do you think I should get on DVD next?

Regarding JGL, I still need to get Mysterious Skin, The Lookout and Uncertainty.

Regarding Tom Hardy, I plan to buy This Means War, Warrior and Stuart: A Life Backwards (yeah, yeah, I know he bites it in this film but it looked REALLY good, otherwise). I might also get Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (I really didn't imagine Ricky Tarr looking like THAT when I read the book, he came across more like an arrogant twink than a broken, sad man - Tom Hardy made me actually LIKE Ricky Tarr, go figure!) and Rocknrolla.

Any other suggestion?

Resident Evil: Retribution

Don't. Bother. Seriously. Even if you are a fan of the previous movies, just don't. Talk about a lot of flash and no bang. It's all about the looks with this one, there's no substance, no story. Characters get killed off, characters disappear only to pop up later on, you don't feel any connection to them... And the only character I even remotely cared about got killed off. Eh. Just... eh. I would've preferred to go and see Lawless if they hadn't aired it at such a stupid time :(

I would rate this one 2/10 - adding a point for the beauty that's Boris Kodjoe.

Trailers:

Breaking Dawn Part 2 - the trailer looked really good. Not "I need to see it right NOW" good but good.
The Hobbit Part 1 - the very first trailer is still my favorite. The dwarves' singing gives me the chills.

DVDs bought:
A few more eps of the Russian Sherlock Holmes.
Breakfast on Pluto with Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson.

Sweet!

Lookie at this!

Sweet! To be honest, NCIS:LA is one of the few shows I'm actually looking forward to. I mean, the TV season has already begun but I have zero interest in most of the shows... I don't know why. Lately, I prefer watching shows on DVD or movies. Maybe all those damnable hiatuses that US TV just looooves cured me of any interest in currently running shows.

Another sweet thing: managed to score the X-Men Quadrilogy - the first three X-Men movies plus Wolverine - for a measly Ł5.81 incl. shipping. Sure, it's used but I don't care. And I have had positive experience with the seller, zoverstocks, so far. I own the first movie in Czech but even buying it again as a part of this quadrilogy was cheaper than buying the movies one by one.

And speaking of DVDs, I'm contemplating doing a little meme of a sort. Kind of "3x..." You see, I realized that when I buy DVDs, I usually focus on a certain actor so I have many movies with, for example, Dolph Lundgren. So, I told myself, why not do a little 3x Dolph Lundgren mini-marathon? Or 3x Mark Dacascos? 3x Rachel Weisz? 3x Paul Walker? Stuff like that... Could be interesting. And it would force me to put my DVD collection in order!

Of movies

Listened the audio commentary on Brick. Very informative. One of the best audio commentaries I've listened to. The director, Rian Johnson, invited various guests from the cast and crew and talked to them about how he used to be obsessed with Dashiell Hammett when he wrote the script, how it took him 7 years to get funding for it and in the end he had to borrow money from family and friends, how it cost them only $450k to make it, how they filmed it in his old high school and the students there became the extras and/or joined the crew, how they were like gypsies, always on the move because they usually got thrown out of where they were filming and they didn't even have money for a sound stage, how Joseph Gordon-Levitt became a part of the creative process and how JGL wore his own shoes during the whole movie because he didn't like to wear new things...

One of the best things about the movie, the thing that sets the perfect atmosphere, is the music, written by Nathan Johnson, Rian Johnson's cousin. You can listen to the composition here: link. I'm smitten with it, especially with the beginning. What a haunting melody.

Today at the cinema, we saw several trailers...

Resident Evil: Retribution - we may go and see it if nothing else will be on in 14 days. I liked the special effects.
Looper - \o/\o/\o/
Savages - might be interesting to see it for the main threesome, an actual working threesome. Though not in the cinema. Maybe on DVD.
Hit & Run - AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! The tasteless jokes about a male-on-male rape in the trailer turned my stomach! AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE!

I also bought several DVDs for 3-4 bucks each:

The Brothers Bloom with Mark Ruffalo, Adrien Brody and Rachel Weisz, directed by Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper)
Alien Agent with Mark Dacascos (who's a god, BTW!)
Bad Boys with Martin Lawrence and Will Smith
Legally Blonde with Reese Witherspoon, one of my favorite romantic comedies!

I paid only 13 bucks for all of them together! How awesome is that?

I was enjoying 3rd Rock and then...

I started watching the DVD box set of 3rd Rock From the Sun that I bought. I enjoyed the first 3 episodes and then the DVD stopped working :( It wouldn't play the next three. I contacted Amazon DE and I'm now waiting for their response. It would be more expensive for me to send the DVD back than to buy a new one, to be honest. I hope I'll get a replacement without needing to send this one back, the way it went with Amazon US and UK when I found a faulty disc/missing disc in a box set *crosses fingers*

ETA: Just got a response from Amazon: They will send me a new box set and I don't need to send the one I own back. Thank you, Amazon. Gratitude!

Supernatural S7 DVD

So, this is the cover of SPN's S7 DVD box set:

Pretty cool, isn't it? I love the colors. But would you believe that fans are already complaining about Dean being in the front? Like, for real? *hands* Sometimes I wonder why I actually left the fandom but moments like this make it clear to me once more... *head shake*

Oh, Fox...

Fox canceled Alcatraz and The Finder and renewed Touch. I never even started watching any of these shows because Alcatraz and Touch simply didn't appeal to me and I suspected that The Finder would flop. And the new shows that Fox picked up? Link. Not one appeals to me. Well, at least I'll have the time to watch my DVDs.

Oh, speaking about DVDs, I bought House S1-4 for 14 bucks only! 4 seasons for just $14! When I saw it in Tesco, my eyes almost popped out of my head. I checked the price 4 times, convinced I was seeing things. I can't wait to watch the early seasons again!

Wrath of the Titans

Saw Wrath of the Titans. What a great movie! I didn't see it in 3D but it would be worth it. The last giant battle alone would be stunning in 3D! Non-stop action, simple story, likable characters, breathtaking special effects.

Don't listen to the bad reviews, it's worth seeing in the cinema - the reviewer who called Kronos - KRONOS, for f's sake! - a "random fiery monster" should be fired on the spot and sent back to school. To not know who KRONOS is! Wow!

Spoilers! )

Much better than the first movie! There were scenes that left me breathless. And I love this movie's Andromeda. She was absolutely fearless! And I finally remembered where I saw the actress! She was in Doom with Karl Urban, playing his sister! D'uh!

I give it 8 stars out of 10!

Trailers we saw...

-- Prometheus - looks great on the big screen.
-- Dark Shadows - awful! Won't bother.
-- Battleship - the best trailer of the bunch! Fantastic!
-- Snow White and the Huntsman - this trailer didn't look as good as the ones online.

I also bought some movies on DVD for a cheap price: Pathfinder with Karl Urban (yay!), the first two episodes of the Russian TV series Sherlock Holmes (I heard amazing things about the show!) and the gay comedy The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green (saw a trailer for it on the Shelter DVD). I paid for them, for all three, 10 bucks. Not bad at all.

Got my hands on Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick for Kc 198 both! That's like $11 for two movies I really wanted to see - yes, yes, I haven't seen them yet, don't kick me! And the covers are so lovely, very comic book like:

I need to have a movie night soon. The DVDs I keep buying cheap are starting to multiply like bunnies right there, on my table! O.o

Thinking thinky thoughts

With ACTA hanging over our heads, I'm honestly thinking of dropping all the shows I follow "live", Supernatural included.

Don't get me wrong, I still adore SPN like whoa, I want to cuddle it and pet it and call it George but downloading shows might come VERY costly soon and also, SPN has become very serialized in its later seasons and all the hiatuses the CW is forcing upon it kill the momentum - I mean, in 2012, we had 2 eps and a hiatus, now there will be 2 or 3 eps and another hiatus. WTF?! I think this show would benefit from marathoning, the way Fringe does.

I watch the following shows "live": Castle, NCIS, NCIS:LA, White Collar, The Mentalist, Grimm & Supernatural. Out of those, I don't own only The Mentalist and Grimm on DVD - and I do want to get Grimm once it's out because it's awesome. So...

Another reason is that I own tons of DVDs that I haven't seen yet: all of SG-1, The Highlander, Enterprise, ST: TOS, The Dresden Files, Starsky&Hutch, Babylon 5, Farscape, Sherlock Holmes, The X-files..., not to mention the movies and other TV series that I buy season for season, not as a full series box set.

So, I think I'll finish watching WhiCo - only 4 eps remain, if I'm not mistaken - catch up on the downloaded stuff and get the next ep of NCIS:LA because that one I've been waiting for since... forever and then I'll start actually watching my DVDs.

Of course, I still might change my mind - wouldn't be the first time ;P
