NCIS fic rec!

GEN --> "The Window" by Summertime. Summary: Tony wakes up alone in a locked room. Gradually, he creates his own way out, but when rescue finally comes, how can he reconcile what he sees with what he knows? Length: 29.700 words.

It scared the hell out of him to think that this new Tony might actually be the real one, the one that had always existed underneath the layers of humanity that he had wrapped around him for the sake of warmth. It was possible that he had underestimated (or was it overestimated, in this case?) Tony. Maybe Tony had always been steel and ice hidden behind his own skin, and Gibbs hadn’t noticed.

Wow, this story totally blew my mind. Hands down, the best fic that I've come across in this fandom so far. It's creepy and scary and it puts you through an emotional wringer without crossing the invisible line of "too much." At no point does it become sappy but you still feel how much Gibbs cares. I'm stunned!

Not being much of a GEN reader usually, but still liking a good character driven plot, I clicked over on the story and thought I'd probably bookmark it for later when I'm more in an NCIS mood.

Then I read a couple of paragraphs and I was hooked.

By the end of the first chapter I began to have a nearly overwhelming desire for the comfort of chocolate. Midway through Ch 2 I had to stop and whip up a batch of chocolate cupcakes (low carb of course *G*).

Creepy - check. Scary - check Emotional wringer - double check.

God, I need to ingest some happy crack fic with another chocolate cupcake.

If you need a happy (yeah, I know it's the middle of the night where you are but this shit could linger til morning) and you haven't read them yet, may I suggest Little, Brother (http://community.livejournal.com/huntersarchives/28325.html#cutid1) by [livejournal.com profile] paxlux and/or an older fic, Summer Camp (http://gigglingkat.livejournal.com/152650.html#cutid1) by [livejournal.com profile] gigglingkat Both GEN, both Wee!chesters. Well, the first one is kinda Wee!chesters but it's Bobby's POV and endearingly funny.

Thanks for the rec m'dear.

Hehe, that's exactly how I felt. I thought I would just check it out - I don't have much faith in the NCIS fandom, to be honest. But I got hooked almost immediately and I couldn't let it go. Wah! Instead of chatting with a friend, I gobbled this fic XP

And thank you for the happy! I haven't read those yet :)
