Wolverine

So, I went and saw Wolverine...

And on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is Stardust that almost put me to sleep and 10 is Fast and Furious that had me so hyped that I went searching for the DVD release date as soon as I came home, I would say it was a solid 6. Some nice action and stuff but Logan's love story bored me to tears and the CG was awful in places - like Xavier's arrival.

Things that I liked:
* Victor. He wanted to kill Logan but he wouldn't allow anybody else to harm him. Ha! Yes, I have a kink for brothers ;P
* Gambit! OMG, he saved the movie for me. Taylor Kitsch is a gorgeous guy and I loved how he portrayed Gambit. His CGs were the best in the whole movie! Can we have a film just about him?

To sum it up, I don't feel like watching the film again any time soon and I'm not even sure if I will buy it on DVD. Maybe I will just wait for someone to upload Gambit's scenes somewhere and I will be content with that.

I liked Gambit, but I wanted his accent to be stronger. I think when I write a story, I will have him lessening his accent while he was in hiding. And I wanted redder hair! But other that than that, love him.

I'm actually glad that he didn't have a stronger accent. Because a) people with a strong accent are sometimes hard to understand and b) it can be overdone in a way that the character turns into a caricature of himself. But then, I never watched the series or read the graphic novels so I didn't really care if he was true to the canon as long as he was enjoyable - and that he was! Taylor Kitsch is so handsome!

the CG was awful in places - like Xavier's arrival.

Word. A cardboard cut out of Patrick Stewart on a stick would have been more convincing.

Oh yes. I mean, on the one hand, there were the awesome Gambit!CGs. And there was... that. Icky! Inconsistent.

Wanted more cajun in Gambit's accent, wanted more devil eyes, wanted more more *g* - and apparently we get a Deadpool movie but not Gambit. How's that fair?

And I just don't buy Logan failing to detect the non-deadness of the girl. Just don't.

But yes, loved the twisted brother relationship :)

I wanted more Gambit period, but I didn't mind the accent or the eyes. The eyes would be just too expensive and as a non-native English speaker, I prefer softer accents to the more pronounced.

So, Deadpool was saved, huh? I knew I should have stayed until the credits ended :P

And brothers! Yes, brothers are my kink! \o/

My impression is more or less like yours. It's okay I guess, but it's not something I'll want to see for a second time.

[identity profile] katikat.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. When I went and saw Fast and Furious, I wanted to SEE IT AGAIN RIGHT NOW!!! But this, well, this was a good movie but that's all.

I'm with you - more Gambit! The lack of stronger accent (although I'm rather a sucker for a Cajun accent) and eyes didn't bother me that much. And of course Xavier's CG was wonky. It's easier to make Gambit go supersonic than make Patrick Stewart look 30-something! *G* It would have been much better just showing him from the back with his voice, though.

I have no desire to run to the theater to see it again (even if there weren't a queue of new releases I'm going to see) but I'll definitely buy it on dvd.

Gambit was love! To be honest, I went to see the movie because of Taylor Kitsch. And now I will watch The Covenant with him. I love pretty boys with special powers ;)

Hah! I'll do you one better - I actually own The Covenant because of him. It's OK, as long as you're not expecting a lot out of it. It's worth it for the heavenly bodies and don't I feel like a dirty old lady for leering at all the pretty flesh constantly! *G*

*blushes* I bought The Covenant because of him too. Amazon.co.uk had it for 5 pounds only - how could I resist there? ;)

Can we have a film just about him?

Omg, how I wish we could get a Gambit film!

If you like Taylor Kitsch in this one, you might like him in The Covenant too. There he also has special powers ;)

You already know my feelings on the film, but I'm so happy you liked Gambit, I knew you would ^_^!

I do. I so do! I will have to look around for a) an icon and b) maybe some eps of the cartoon with him :)
