Jensen in a movie! :)

Jensen Ackles set for 'Bloody Valentine'": In helmer Patrick Lussier's remake of the 1981 slasher film, Ackles will play Tom, a handsome, principled man who returns to his home in Harmony, Mo., 10 years after 22 people were murdered on Valentine's night. Back in Montana, Tom finds he still is smitten with his first love, Sarah (Jaime King), and is now a murder suspect.

Great! That sounds really good and I'm crossing my fingers here that he gets this role *crosses fingers*

But the fans are starting to piss me off like you wouldn't believe it. First they totally dissed and bashed Jared's new movie without frickin' seeing it, now they are saying even worse things about Jensen's new role. Yes, it's much better for him to star in independent movies like TIH that won't even get to cinemas and the execs have troubles finding anyone seriously interested in bringing it out at least on DVD (I have nothing against TIH, from what I heard it's a cool movie and I would adore to see it, but it didn't do Jensen's career much good so far since it's still a con/festival thing only).

Be happy for Jensen! This will put him in spotlight. And stop complaining until you actually saw the frickin' movie!

I don't get the remake hype, except for the potential to reach out to a new generation that can no longer appreciate the originals because... well... the early 80s are over. I'm friends with one of the EPs on Friday the 13th, and even though I'm not totally for it (*that* particular remake), I'm happy for him that he's got another huge project in the cooker.

But, on the other hand, I've enjoyed some of the remakes I've seen like Texas Chainsaw Massacre which also pretty much launched Jessica Biel's career. Prior to that she was hardly known. Remakes are serious launch pads for some of these people. So I think fans should back off and give them a chance. The point on these for Jared and Jensen is that they are wide release films. Jensen's not going to get discovered doing TIH type films or spending his summer on stage sharpening his chops. It sounds like Jared's example of whoring himself out finally rubbed off and Jensen's sucked it up and is going for it. I am personally thrilled.

I think that Jensen doesn't care much about being famous. He just wants to work and act. And I'm happy for him that he can do just that. I mean, that new movie of his can turn out to be awesome. As I said before, remake doesn't mean a word for word copy, right?

Not at all, some remakes have been a pretty fresh take on the old. Besides, with modern elements to work around now, like cell phones, computers, etc. there are plenty of new ways to tell an old story.

I get the impression Jensen wants challenging, serious roles, but he sounds like he's learning it's a matter of getting your face out there before you can land those parts. I'm happy he's taking the leap.
