Ming-Na joins SHIELD

Joss Whedon cast Ming-Na in SHIELD: link. She'll be playing Melinda May; "soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences, Melinda is an ace pilot, a weapons expert and a soldier who can — and has — gone beyond the call of duty."

She joins Clark Gregg who comes back as Coulson. Though I have no idea if he will be a regular or a recurring or just a guest star in the pilot, if the show takes place after The Avengers or before or who the heck knows when. Whedon said the show will be stand-alone, but what does that mean? No connection to the movies at all? That would be dumb, to be honest. So, who knows *hands*

Daaaaaaaamn!

Well, damn. According to Deadline.com, Matthew Vaughn won't be directing X-Men: Days of Future Past after all. He just stepped down. He will still be producing the movie and he wrote the outline that Simon Kinsberg's turned into a script, but he won't be directing it. It's possible that he and Bryan Singer, who directed the first two X-Men movies, will just switch places - Singer produced XMFC - but Fox might bring in someone new.

DamndamnDAMN. I really loved Vaughn's style, that he allowed both Fassbender and McAvoy have their say in how Charles and Erik's relationship would be portrayed. I'm not sure if a new director will give them the same freedom - they are both deeply interested in keeping the characters' integrity which might clash with the new director's vision. Very disappointing news :(

Also, it looks like Wolverine will be set after X3.
