Peter Jackson confirmed Orlando Bloom's return as Legolas:

"Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas. I'm excited to announce today that we'll be revisiting Middle-earth with him once more. I'm thrilled to be working with Orlando again. Funny thing is, I look older--and he doesn't! I guess that's why he makes such a wonderful elf."

Aww...! I wonder if it's still planned as a cameo only. I don't care, because LEGOLAS!!! \o/

Not that I'm complaining, Orlando, yay! The cast is looking supergood!

As someone said, the book's not "meaty" enough to fill two blockbuster movies so Jackson's expanding the story, based on other materials by Tolkien. The main story is the same, but there will be more about the goings and happenings in the land too.

Uh oh. Mixed feelings, there. On one hand I trust PJ with Tolkien, he clearly loves the books enough, on the other I hate this drive to split everything under the sun into two movies.
