I don't get it...

Why do people use these codes - - in their entries? I hope that they show up. I mean, when they didn't use an URL or any special or bold fonts, it doesn't do anything, it just makes the entry look cluttered and ridiculous.

Why do people use it? Does it do anything for Mac vs. PC users? Or for Explorer vs. Mozilla? Because I'm a PC+Mozilla!girl and it just looks plain ugly and I steer away from such posts.

I have really sensitive hearing. And by sensitive I mean that I can hear water dripping through closed door from another room. I hear even the slightest vibration of the ventilator in my computer. I hear my clock buzzing with electricity from 2 meters away. It's really headache inducing... *rubs forehead* X(

That's usually when they're trying to use html coding in a Rich Text format. LJ allows for both. LJ will automatically code things in Rich Text, so it's great for transferring things from Word documents, because they use the same coding system. In html, you have to do all the coding manually, and some people prefer that, because Rich Text occasionally goes wonky and does it wrong. if you try and use html in Rich Text format, it goes wonky and finished post has the raw code, and you get the tags like you've got up there. You can switch between them up in the right-hand corner of the box you type in when you're posting.

Hehe, Rich Text never does what I want it to do so I use manual HTML only. I have no patience for the Rich Text when I have it much faster done by simply adding the codes :D But don't the people preview their entries before they post it to comms? Sheesh! *shakes head*

Apparently not.

Adding to what [livejournal.com profile] fools_game said, people use the html in rich text, then copy the code to post in comms. Only in the comm they use the manual html because it is already formatted, and we end with the broken code :)

Done that a lot before I understood what was wrong :)

I like to use html tags too but I always check my posts before I post then to a comm. I mean, there is this "preview" button after all *sigh*

The problem, and I tell you from experience again, is that when you do the preview, the wrong tags are there, when you come back to the edit page to fix them, they are not. I guess most people don't take the time but many times I ended up deleting the entry.
