Fansubbers vs. their leechers

Why is it okay for fan subbers to indicate that their leechers are dumb but not the other way around? Yes, I'm talking about the whole IRC vs. BT thing at Shinsen's. As much as I like their high quality subs - and I'm eternally grateful for them - I don't like their attitude. Yes, some people can't download via IRC. Others can't stand on their head, sing and juggle at the same time, thank you very much!

Uhh, it took me a few minutes to check shinsen's page but now I see. BT is up now if you want it.

Releasing Black Lagoon as irc only. That's a new one. 'Why you ask? Cause you leechers need to work for your food this time!' (Vincent) or 'BT will, of course, be available in a short while. After seeing this flood I wonder if you ever thought how hard it is to fansub an episode when you're not smart/willing enough to figure out IRC.' (Kaunteya). Mmh, those statements by shinsen's staff members won't help their popularity at all. It's unfair and insulting.

I don't think that's the right thing to do. But in the end it's just a harsher version of their routine of releasing anime. When I get the message from my .rss-feed that they released something new, there're always only a few seeds for BT but it's already up on most of their irc bots. And shame on me: irc that's where I get my anime from. Ever since Ani-Kraze was still releasing Inuyasha.

You know, at first, I found Vincent's comments quite amusing. But they are quickly turning from funny to caustic. He should really pull that stick out of his ass :(

Thankfully, they posted a torrent too. Happy happy. Black Lagoon is one of the best anime out there at the mo!

Oh, I adore your icon. Haruhi Suzumiya, right? The lj mood icons I use now are from the same anime. How I adore it. And that's why I love Kanon. The main seiyuu is the same. He does sarcastic so well :D

I guess we'll just have to live with the snappy comments. Although I don't like this kind of attitude.

I can understand why people have their issues with irc. It's complicated and people tend to be not overly frienly in some channels. Try DB's channel for example, I guess that's the number one place if you want to check how fast one can be banned/kicked whatever.
But there are still others that are friendly places that offer a lot of help to irc newbies. I was kicked around a few times, too, but now I wouldn't want quit using irc since it's faster than BT for me.

*lol* Suzumiya Haruhi it is. I know you like Kyon just as much as I do. Tomokazu Sugita is amazing. He voices so many interesting roles. I'll never forget pouting Gin-san (after reading his JUMP) in Gintama: 'I want bankai, too!'

Uuuu, I'm not up on this conflict, but I have this problem with manga scanslations... most are like "HI GET VIA IRC PLZ" and my connection just won't let IRC downloads through, sigh T___T

Though I got burnt off it back when I was on dialup back when I could handle IRC downloads... I'd be like "*download?*" and they'd be like "LOL NO, YOU'RE ON DIALUP WTF". So yeah.

Well, my connection doesn't like BT much either but it will actually connect, unlike IRC T___T

What I don't like about IRC are the slots, the waiting the complicated searching for what you want, the channels and the fact that you are kicked out by the community every time you do something wrong. I very much prefer BT *nods*

[identity profile] tabimendou.livejournal.com 2006-11-25 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That too, that too T___T I mean, I assume I can't get IRC downloads because whenever I've been on IRC and tried to get files from my friends they've never worked, but... I don't really dare actually go onto the subber/scanslator channels to try actually getting files because I'm worried I'll do something stupid and get booted out for it x_X

[identity profile] katikat.livejournal.com 2006-11-25 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. The commands are so complicated that you have to copy and past them and it's enough when you miss one space and you end up in the chat room and everybody is like "get out, you bitch". I have enough stress in my life as it is, thank you X(

I think I would be not so hard on subbers, it is their work, they make the subs...their decision where to post it for download and if it is IRC so be it.I am busy person IRC for me is pain in the ass due the time I must spent to find what I want to find.I prefer torrents, quickier.

[identity profile] katikat.livejournal.com 2006-11-25 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course it's up to them where they want to upload their work. I don't mind that. What I mind are the comments that implicate that you are dumb when you don't know how to use some tool. And lately, snappy posts appear rather often on their web page :(

[identity profile] matimate.livejournal.com 2006-11-25 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Still they can express their opinion about their target group even if we do not like it. It is freedom of speach. No harm is done except the reader pride and I think we should be above it. Just one opinion who discoureged anyone to try to press them to distribute in the different ways.
