The Fate of Athelstan

When I first learned of Vikings, History Channel's TV show, I thought that Athelstan was a made up character, someone used to introduce the viewers to the viking culture. Apparently, I was wrong. The creator, Michael Hirst, based Athelstan on a real historical figure.

If you want to know more about said man, about his fate. And also about what's in store for Athelstan in S2. )

Fic Rec: Star Trek Reboot

"In an Orbit All the Way Around You" by glitterfics | Kirk/McCoy | AU | Centuries after the Eugenics Wars, Earth is still suffering from the effects of the wars’ brutal Guide Cull. When the Enterprise is sent to a planet claiming to have produced a serum which replicates the Guide gene, is this the answer Earth’s Sentinels have been waiting for? And how is it going to affect Jim Kirk, the Enterprise’s Sentinel captain? | ~24.000

McCoy immediately holed up in his office, studying the reports while the ship’s computer ran an analysis on the samples and the serum. Something was bugging him about the whole thing, something besides the fact that the Prillovians were obviously nuttier than a bunch of squirrels preparing for winter; he just couldn’t put his finger on what.

Aww, I just love Sentinel/Guide stories. I really should re-watch The Sentinel some day soon...

Michael Fassbender & Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender, who played lovers in Terrence Malick's as of yet untitled movie and should've played lovers in Jane Got a Gun from which Michael had to drop out because of a scheduling conflict with XM:DOFP, will be together in another movie, Macbeth, playing the titular characters. It should be a faithful adaptation of the play, with epic battles and elaborate settings: link.

I bet James McAvoy LOL'd a lot when he found out that Michael would be playing Macbeth too! I mean, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who play Old!Charles and Old!Erik, were Macbeths too. And now both James and Michael... That's actually pretty funny.
