“Forget it,” said Erik, spreading his wings into the dusk. “It’ll never work.”

Aww... Just, aww... This is seriously sweet. Charles is such a fierce dove! And Erik builds him a nest!

Have you read the one in which they are all crabs and Erik has Issues? :D I love the animal AUs in this fandom.
