The CW orders a 'Vampire' pilot

"Vampire Diaries," from WBTV and Alloy, is based on Alloy's 15-year-old series of novels, which are enjoying a resurgence with their reprinting in the wake of the success of "Twilight."

It centers on a tragic young heroine who is the object of passion for two vampire brothers -- one good, one evil -- who are at war for her soul and for the souls of her friends, family and other residents of the small town in which she resides.

Funny, some time ago, my boss gave me these books for reviewing. I still didn't get around to read them... This might be actually interesting - if casted right, that is - but then, anything is better than yet another soap about spoiled rich misunderstood girls.

I hope this will turn out to be paired with Supernatural!! If Smallville ends, of course (though even if it doesn't, they should use Smallville to launch something new and let Supernatural lead into Vampire Diaries). I think there'd be quite a bit of crossover between these two shows - and VD (oh, what a horrible pair of letters) seems like it'd be female-skewing, which would be good because Supernatural was female-skewing prior to its pairing with the male-skewing Smallville. Nothing wrong with trying to get some of those viewers back. :D

I don't think that they would move SPN to 8pm, it's just too gory. And Vampire Diaries seem very lovey-dovey to me on the other hand. But I could see VD at 8pm as a sort of vanilla supernatural series leading into hard-core Supernatural. I know that they don't usually place new shows at 8pm but I don't see any other show on the CW, that would fit it better... On the other hand, they put together Reaper and 90210 so... What do I know?
