His Dark Materials

Apparently, BBC has ordered Philip Pullman's book series, "His Dark Materials", to an event - or limited or mini, whatever you want to call it - series that's about to start filming in the foreseeable future in Wales, exec'd by the former Doctor Who producers Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner.

Sounds interesting. I've read many HDM AU fanfics but never the books themselves, they're just a few in my piles of many to read...
