Suits 109-112
Done with S1. Hm... You know what this show's track record reminded me of? Covert Affairs - that show also started strong and then fizzled out. I don't know what happened, the first 5 or 6 episodes of Suits were rocking awesome. I couldn't get enough! And then... The unending Trevor storyline. Rachel's jealousy. Mike's inability to decide, to commit. The endless "OMG, they're going to find ooooooout!" It kept piling up and up and in the end, I was actually ffwding through some scenes, not just the whole shipping shenanigans, but also Harvey's floundering in court in the last episode. Seriously? This was the guy who ate other lawyers for breakfast?
I think this show would've been much better if it focused on Harvey and Donna, if Mike was a regular Harward graduate, just wet behind the ears, so the whole "OMG, I don't have a degree and they're going to find out!" flailing wouldn't be there at all, just like the Trevor and Jenny mess.
And I know Jessica is quite popular and I do like how protective she is of her employees when they are threatened by an outside source. But I did not like that she set up Harvey and Louis against each other on a regular basis to cover all her bases, that she was willing to metaphorically hop into a bed with anybody if it just brought monies to her firm, even though she knew she was doing the wrong thing - see the episode with the degree-less employee of that accountant firm; she didn't do anything till she found out her own firm was losing money, until then, she couldn't care less.
One more thing - I have a big problem with the working environment in that firm. I guess I'm not cut out for rubbing elbows with the big league because what I saw there, I wouldn't consider it friendly competition but a hostile working environment - I as a lawyer should focus on one-upping my opponent, not on not getting stabbed in the back by my own people.
What I really liked:
-- Harvey
-- no, seriously, Harvey!
-- Donna!!!
What I didn't like:
-- the love triangles
-- Trevor
-- Rachel
To sum it up: it's a good show if you don't expect much. It's a funny summer flick but you have to ignore all the annoying bits and of those there are more and more as the show continues. In the end, I was really loving only Harvey and Donna, everybody else and their storylines irked the heck outta me at one point or another and more often than not, to be honest. Definitely not on par with White Collar's S1 but pretty equal to WhiCo's S3 - which I don't consider a high praise.
