Sherlock Holmes question

Some time back, when I was talking about Sherlock Holmes in general, how I didn't like the way Watson used to be portrayed in the movies/series etc., peeps rec'd me the Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett playing Holmes. Can someone tell me why? Why Jeremy Brett's version? What's so special about it?
