Supernatural 522

Wow, I cried my way through the ep, seriously.

No meaningful words, I'm just too stunned:

* Chuck was God, hah!
* Cas is alive! Bobby is alive!
* Sam's... wow! What's Sam, actually? O.o Is he alive? Is he still Lucifer?
* Poor Dean. Why do I think that without Sam, the family life won't be enough?

It broke my heart, literally. I'm glad that it's not the series finale! I just can't imagine Dean without Sam...

XD To be fair, he told us as much, in the episode he was introduced.

I am SO VERY HAPPY this is not the finale, or I would be forced to murder Kripke painfully. WTF, MAN? Leaving Dean contemplating how much he wants to die over apple pie, every day? So not on. :(

Yeah, if we didn't know what Dean was thinking, that he wanted to die and that he went to Lisa only because he had promised it, it would be different. But as it is, it's painful, not happy :(

But man, stalking Sam - can you imagine the boom of Wincest fics that will bring? \o/

We didn't even need the voice over, the beauty of having Jensen Ackles act (aside from, you know, the beauty) is that he's got Dean's emotional state written on his face in capital letters. Big, bold, capital letters. Dean is more broken than he'd ever been in his life, and the one single thing that kept him from putting a gun to his head is the promise he made to Sammy. And he would always honour promises made to Sammy.

Why yes, I am firmly camped in the field under the "Sam and Dean are soulmates" banner.

Absolutely. I look forward to it. :D

I wonder if Kripke really did mean it like that, that Sam and Dean are soul mates. I mean, when Ash said it, he looked at the one, then at the other with a very pointed look. And then they looked at each other like O.o And they did share their versions of Heaven, so...

Ha. I think when Ash said it was for the benefit of the fangirls (I'm not wholly sold on the Heaven being anything but a hoax), but on the whole I rather think Kripke meant it. Oh sure, there's the underlying litany of "family is what's important", but despite blood being so crucial to the show, family is more than blood. Bobby is not blood, Ellen and Jo and Cas and Ash weren't, and they were family. Gabriel is the most glaring example - the show is about the family you build, not the family you are born into, and that right there convinces me Sam and Dean are soulmates, whether by divine order or because they chose it to be so.

For me, Chuck's voiceover drives it home better than anything else: how many people in your life you can take to an empty field and watch stars with for hours on end, without saying a word?
